Education

Our schools are the foundation of our communities. Justin is pushing for smarter use of state education dollars, real classroom support, and policies that put students, teachers, and families first.

What Justin Is Doing

  • Delivering Family Tax Relief: Filed legislation to lower costs for parents and protect the vital role families play in their children's education.
  • Expanding Career & Technical Training: Supporting robust vocational and technical education to connect our students directly with good-paying, future-proof careers right here at home.
  • Defending Local Control: Fights against unfunded state mandates so our local school districts retain the authority to best serve their students.
  • Active Classroom Engagement: Regularly visits schools to speak with students, attends local events, and supports district-wide activities to emphasize the value of education and teach the next generation how to engage with their government.
  • Celebrating Local Excellence: Honors outstanding students, educators, and athletes by presenting citations at school committee meetings, attending local events, and hosting them at the State House to formally recognize their achievements.

State Representative Thurber is a fierce advocate for families and quality education across the 5th Bristol District. He has filed legislation aimed at delivering meaningful tax relief for parents and protecting the essential role of families in their children's education.

He is also a strong supporter of vocational and technical training, and works closely with local schools to prepare students for successful careers. Understanding that local school districts know their students' needs best, Rep. Thurber is a constant presence in the classrooms and at school events, regularly issuing official citations to recognize outstanding students, educators, and athletes. On Beacon Hill, he fights tirelessly to ensure the state provides full education funding while strictly respecting local control instead of imposing burdensome, unfunded mandates.
