About Rep. Thurber

A Different
Kind of Rep.
Justin Thurber is a U.S. Air Force Reserves veteran and Somerset resident serving as State Representative for the 5th Bristol District: Dighton, Somerset, and parts of Swansea and Taunton.
Rep. Thurber prides himself on being a Representative, not a politician. Rather than waiting for Beacon Hill to solve every problem, he rolls up his sleeves and brings local organizations, businesses, and government agencies together to deliver real results for his constituents. Practical, adaptive, and relentless: that's how he fights every day for the people he represents.
In his first term, Rep. Thurber connected economic development resources directly to town officials and local businesses, launched a district food pantry at the Somerset Council on Aging, and worked tirelessly to connect families with critical medical care, utility assistance, housing support, SNAP benefits, and veterans' services.
Rep. Thurber supported auditing the Legislature well before it appeared on the ballot, and continues to advocate at the State House to follow the will of the 72% of Massachusetts residents who voted in favor of the audit.
His Priorities
- Delivering immediate, hands-on solutions at the local level to assist the people in our communities who need help right now.
- Pushing to audit Beacon Hill because you are the boss and taxpayers have a right to full government transparency.
- Lowering costs for working families by exposing and fighting back against costly, burdensome state mandates.
- Ensuring every child receives a high-quality education and enters the workforce fully equipped to succeed in tomorrow's economy.
- Standing up for veterans to ensure they receive the full benefits, resources, and respect they earned.
- Actively connecting local small businesses with town, state, and non-profit resources to help them grow, hire, and succeed.
- Finding innovative solutions to state issues that protect, rather than restrict, your individual rights.
Representative Thurber's commitment is straightforward: every day, he works to ensure the voices of Somerset, Dighton, Swansea, and Taunton are heard on Beacon Hill and to deliver real, practical results that matter most to the people he serves.
