Meet Justin Thurber

Justin Thurber was raised in Swansea, Massachusetts and has lived in Somerset for the past five years. After high school, he joined the Air Force Reserves and worked multiple jobs to put himself through Bristol Community College and Bryant College where he graduated with a degree in Finance. After college, he worked for Putnam Investments and State Street Investments.

Following the birth of his second child, Justin was afforded the opportunity to be a stay-at-home dad. It was the greatest blessing and most fulfilling job of his life. He was able to raise 3 wonderful kids with his lovely wife.  During that time he assisted coaching SSYSL Rec and Travel soccer and volunteered in various capacities at his kids' schools.  Justin was also able to pursue his Air Force career and achieve the top enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. As a Chief Master Sergeant he was in charge of the largest squadron in the Air Force Reserves which at its peak had over 400 Airmen and 16 C-5 Galaxy aircraft. Last October, after 29 years of service to the country, he retired.

It didn't take long for him to realize he still wanted to serve in some capacity.  As luck would have it, after about 5 months of being retired, he was asked to run for office by a former Airman who worked for him.  Without hesitation, he accepted the challenge. He is taking this stand for everyone who can't and he will continue his mission to make the Fifth Bristol District a better place for everyone.
