Affordability

From property taxes to energy costs, working families across the 5th Bristol are getting squeezed. Justin is fighting to put real money back in the pockets of his constituents.

What Justin Is Doing

  • Fighting Costly Mandates: Serving as a strong voice on the Climate Action Committee, fighting burdensome mandates, new fees, and taxes that hurt working families and drive up costs.
  • Delivering Tax Relief & School Funding: Advocating for meaningful tax relief that protects residents from tax hikes, securing increased state aid for our communities, and fighting to fix our broken school funding formula.
  • Growing Our Local Economy: Bringing jobs and resources home by bridging the gap between local businesses and state economic development organizations while expanding visibility and support for small businesses.
  • Combating Food Insecurity: Launched and helps run a district-wide food pantry to fight hunger and ensure residents have direct access to critical programs assisting moderate- and low-income families.

Rep. Thurber is delivering real results for Somerset, Dighton, Swansea, and Taunton. Championing local taxpayers, Justin introduced Amendment 43, a bold plan that would have redirected at least $100 million annually from the Fair Share surplus directly back to cities and towns on a per capita basis. This initiative would have delivered roughly $600,000 to every legislative district to support local education and transportation infrastructure.

Justin believes our communities deserve a real return on the taxes they send to Boston. Beyond fighting for local aid, he is working tirelessly to lower energy costs, provide targeted tax relief, bring economic development home, and advance practical solutions that keep life affordable for our working families.
